The beginning of an exploration of sorts…

I am constantly fascinated by the world around me…(a common scenario for most artists) and I feel a sense of urgency to explore, absorb, and reinterpret my own visual world through my own artistic creation. I want to begin a daily documentation of my own visual inspirations and encounters. I am drawn to fashion in the most raw and unexpected forms and I seek to illustrate my daily interests through use of sketching to give life to what I have visually absorbed.

Shows, shows, shows

Yesterday we worked the Alexis Mabille show in the morning. It was an interesting show. The tailoring was very well done but it just wasn’t my particular taste in design. I think the highlight of that show is that Dita Von Teese attended and were able to see her in person. Last night we got to attend another fashion show and watch. This was Alexander Vauthier. I really loved his collection and extravagant use of jewelry with unique neck pieces that accentuated the shoulders. This morning, we went to the women’s Pret-a-porter trade show once again it was quite overwhelming. In the accessories section I saw a lot of necklaces that drew inspiration from and that I am definitely going to attempt to make when I get back. This afternoon we went to the Mu see D’Orsay one of the famous “must see’s” in Paris with an awesome impressionist collection. We got to see some Manet, Monet, Renoir, and Van Gogh which was sweet. I also passed by some Signac paintings on our tour, another artist I am extremely fond of. After the museum we rushed across town to see another show. Julien Fournie was the show we got to see and I was really intrigued with the designs. Compared to all the other shows we’ve seen so far this one was very delicate, soft, and whimsical. The dress were very flowy and light and it was nice to see another fascinating fashion, they never get old!
